Mangroves in China

Over the past century, the world has lost over 50% of its coastal mangroves. They have been cleared mainly to make way for commercial shrimp and fish farms. The unique trees which live in salt water are valued for the ability to protect shorelines and are home to a diverse array of flora and fauna. 2010
