Flooding in Jakarta, Indonesia - Climate Change

A woman looks out over a river that has been completely covered with refuse in a slum community in Muara Baru, in north Jakarta. Water pollution is prevalent throughout the city as local residents discard household waste directly into the city’s waterways. The floods which ravage the city each January also play a role as they wash large large amounts of refuse into communities such as this, completely blocking the flow of water.
