Orphanages in China

CHINA. Beijing. A young orphan in an orphanage outside of Beijing. There are currently millions of orphans in China living in orphanages spread throughout the country. As a result of China's one-child policy, many children are abandoned or given up if they suffer from any physical or mental handicap as the parents strive to have a child born 'normal' and well. This has led to may children being abandoned to live in state and privately-owned orphanages.
