China - Hutong Destruction in Beijing [2005]

Prior to the holding of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, the city of Beijing underwent huge developments aimed at modernizing the city. Huge swathes of traditional hutongs were destroyed to make may for the new developments, displacing thousands of people who were moved to the suburbs of the city.
